Hello All! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxed spring break, but now it's time to get back to work! As the warm weather approached we must all continue to stay focused, especially with the MAC Awards coming up! Do not forget, all MAC Award submissions are due by APRIL 1, 2011!!!! This is the last day to hand in any of your work. The categories for radio consist of: -Best Show -Event Promo -Station Promo -News Segment -Creative Production The awards will be held on May 4th, 2011 from 7-10PM. There will also be a dinner post award ceremony from 5-6:30PM located on the campus center. Also, DO NOT FORGET, the second deadline for the spring 2011 semester show promos is: April 8th, 2011. All promos must be submitted to the PREVIEW FOLDER by the end of that Friday night. If your promos are not submitted you will be subject to suspension. Annalie Rose Baumann Production Director

The Asian Club

Please join The Asian Club as they help raise money to Send Aid to Japan! They are going door to door in the Woodland Halls today starting at 12:00pm through April 14 at 11:30pm. Special thanks goes out to the Asian Club, Liz Han, and Sophia Yu. They will be selling Asian Candies for $2 & all donations will be sent to the World Vision for Japan!

Updated Student MAC Awards Information

Please be advised that auditions to perform for the 2011 Student MAC Awards are on March 30th,2011 in the TV/Game Room from 7-9 PM. OWWR will only provide vocal support. All bands must bring their own gear. All acts must have 2 selections prepared; the first, is the one they wish to perform, the second is a back up. Call 516.876.7502 for more information. In addition, all submissions for the MAC Awards ALL CATEGORIES are Friday, April 1, 2011.

All staff here at the station are proud and excited to say that the new OWWR phone APP is now up and running! You can download TuneIn Radio to your iPhones and Driods for only 99¢!

We are currently working on the APP's compatibility with Blackberry phones.

MAC Awards

The 4th Annual 2011 Student MAC Awards are Wednesday, May 4th, 2011 from 7pm - 10pm in the Campus Center. The dinner will be held from 5pm - 6:30pm, also in the Campus Center.

All are welcomed to this event! At this time, ensure that you speak with your professors regarding any work that you have done this, and last semester.

The categories are: Print, Digital Arts, Radio, Television and Video & New Media.

I just wanted to thank everyone that showed up to our last minute staff meeting. I was very happy see new and old faces. It's nice to see that people are recruiting.

With spring break and the nice weather approaching I know how it feels to want to be lazy. But please! Keep up the great work until the end of the semester. This radio station would not be what it is without every single one of you. Since midterms are coming up and we will be off for a week, the next promo deadline is not until April but I suggest that you get it done as soon as possible so that there is less work for yourself. It doesn't take long to promote yourself and your show!

Reminder

Good Morning all!

Just a reminder, because of the snow at the beginning of February, our staff meeting is rescheduled to tomorrow!! All OWWR staff must attend and please bring friends!

As for show promos, over all I am very proud of this semesters first deadline. A good portion of you really made sure that your work was in and please know that it was greatly appreciated.
The next show promo deadline will be April 4th. Please keep up the great work and we will continue to succced together.

As I have posted previously, the Staff Meeting is scheduled for THIS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 2ND! All DJs and staff members MUST be in attendance. The meeting will be held in Multipurpose Room C of the Student Union from 12pm-1pm.

OWWR Meets Troy Walker

On Wednesday, February 23rd, OWWR welcomed Freeport rapper Troy Walker to the studio for an interview with Wire Radio. The 24 year old spoke to EJ, Calvin and DJ Cookz about his roots, musical inspirations and influences and explained how he sees himself in the music industry. Walker will be performing on Sunday, February 27th in Vibe Lounge located at 60 N. Park Ave, Rockville Centre NY.

Weekly, I update the station's Facebook and Twitter accounts, create flyers for any events hosted by OWWR and update this blog. If you are looking for a hands-on but very detailed oriented position here at Old Westbury Web Radio, this is definitely the place for you.

Show Promo Extension

As previously stated ALL show promos were due last Wednesday, February 16th. I am very proud to say that I had received more than half of our OWWR show promos. So first off I would like to thank everyone who handed in their promos on time and are contribution to the over all sound of our colleges station. However, there are still shows that have yet to submit a promo for the first spring 2011 deadline. I have decided to extend the show promo date until tomorrow, Wednesday February 23rd. That is a week later than they were expected. You MUST have your show promo in the preview by tomorrow night, or YOUR SHOW WILL BE SUSPENDED. There are absolutely no excuses. I have already given an extension which was not supposed to be granted. Please do not take advantage of this. This time around, you will be documented and your show will be affected.

Please help the station and yourselves and get your promos in tomorrow!

To all staff members and fans of OWWR -

• The staff meeting originally scheduled for February 2nd, 2011, has now been resheduled to March 2nd, 2011 as the first meeting of the Spring 2011 semester. Please join us and bring a friend to learn what you can do to be heard! • Show promos were due yesterday (Feb. 16th)! If you still have not handed in your promo, see Annalie, the Production Director, or email her at OWWRPRODDEPT@aim.com ASAP!
• All departments are now required to create a promo stating what your department does and how they can get involved. The scripts for the promo are due TUESDAY, Feb. 22nd! If you have any questions or comments email or see our Production Director (contact info above).
• This station NEEDS a Sports Director and a Programming Director! Everyone please promote this in your classes, dorms and clubs for all who could be interested!
• The News Department is currently holding meetings every Thursday. So, if you are apart of the news team or want to be involved, stop by the station. If you have any questions or comments, email our News Director, Tom, at radionews@oldwestbury.edu!
• All departments must now update this blog WEEKLY! If you have any questions, please see Manfredi or myself for details.

Hello once again OWWR!
